Web 2.0

Web 2.0 Project

Wiki Article

This project was a "Jigsaw." Each person had two groups:  base group, and a jigsaw group. The jigsaw group did research on a specific web tool, and then the members of that group went back to their base group to present what they learned. I think that it was very informative. It allowed each person in the class to learn about a variety of web tools that are useful in classrooms with all age groups.

My group's tool was Prezi, which is a great tool that serves a similar purpose to PowerPoint. It's a bit more complicated, so it takes some more effort and time to make a basic presentation, but it is my no means difficult. The complexity is what makes it better. It can make the presentation of large amounts of information visually pleasing much easier than PowerPoint, and the flow between "slides" is smoother than the either straights cuts or stock transitions included in PowerPoint.

It's definitely something I can see myself using in classrooms in the future, along with the other tools like Glogster (which I think would be great for grade school students, but could work for any age) and GoAnimate (probably better for older students, could be great for English classes and the like).

I think that this project went along well with standard one of the NETS for Teachers, which is Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning and Creativity. Learning these tools will allow students to further express their creativity when making projects inside and outside of the classroom. Hopefully, it will make them more involved and invested in the learning experience.
